Service Manager

Department: Tampa Maintenance
Location: Tampa, FL

PURPOSE:
To direct tractor repair activities and road service trouble shooting in order that Marten Transport, Ltd. tractors comply with Federal specifications and operate in a safe, reliable manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage maintenance staff in the repair and maintenance of tractors and or trailers, fostering teamwork.
2. Handle road service/troubleshooting over the phone.
3. Manage parts function, purchasing, and issuing PO's when necessary.
4. Manage quality control efforts for terminal operations.
5. Oversee warranty program
6. Work with Foreman to accomplish daily goals.
7. Manage all computer and telephone activities.
8. Handle all people (driver) issues when necessary.
9. Oversee terminal fuel process
10. Responsible for company vehicles
11. Manage tire program
12. Responsible for terminal maintenance budget
13. Serve as a resource for foreman on personnel issues; including but not limited to PTO, hiring, and disciplinary issues
14. Interact with drivers for counseling, problem resolution and general assistance
15. Serve as a liaison to local community groups, regulatory, law enforcement agencies and Marten vendors
16. Monitor yard and facilities for compliance and maintain a professional and clean environment.
17. Assist Terminal Management on daily responsibilities
18. Other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIP:
Daily interactions with drivers, vendors, service managers, all levels of Management.

ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Class A mechanic desired. Have basic math skills and
aptitude for the position. Able to read and write English language and demonstrate computer skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standing, stooping, bending, manual dexterity, lifting 100 pounds, listening/hearing

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Four years post high school desirable, with 5-7 years maintenance supervision experience.
