Dedicated Team Lead

Department: Dedicated Operations
Location: Lugoff, SC

PURPOSE:
To effectively manage and coordinate all operational activities as they relate to the account.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Establish and maintain excellent communication processes between Marten and dedicated customer. Maximizing utilization of daily capacity to meet internal goals and requirements of Marten Transport, Ltd
2. Analyze service reports to determine root causes for service failures and then use the information to implement the appropriate corrective action plans.
3. Maintain a strong understanding of customers initiatives, in order to keep Marten's strategic focus in line with those goals.
4. Maintain a thorough understanding of customer transportation management systems.
5. Proactively obtain truckload volume forecasts from customer. Daily load planning and monitoring of capacity and equipment to meet customer service requirements in assigned areas of responsibility.
6. Establish and maintain good relationships with all members of customer’s support departments.
7. Complete and manage all Collaborative Fleet reports.
8. Work closely with Marten's Recruiting department to aid them in the recruitment of drivers for any established collaborative or dedicated fleet.
9. Responsible for assigned Fleet Managers and the Drivers
on those fleets including, but not limited to effective management for optimum performance in; on-time pickup and delivery performance, pallet management, out of route miles, hours of service compliance, driver availability, accommodation of all details of customer and company expectations on each load at the point of dispatch.
10. Insure that each driver has an adequate understanding of all details of customer and company expectations on each
load at the point of dispatch.
11. Daily accounting of all assigned trucks and drivers.
12. Provide continuous improvement in driver retention
through; utilization, timeliness of meeting driver routing requests, fostering positive and supportive communication between drivers and operations personnel, increased driver availability and effective matching of drivers to loads.
13. Serve as operations representative in various meetings as needed.
14. Other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Daily interaction with transportation managers, customers, drivers and Marten operational staff.

ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent self-motivational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management.
Ability and willingness to travel when required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Reasonable manual dexterity.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRES:
Bachelor's degree in Management, Logistics or other related Business degree or equivalent business related work experience.
